Family Therapy

Whether your family is facing a specific crisis or simply struggling to reconnect, therapy can provide a safe space to strengthen understanding and rebuild healthy relationships.

"Your Family's wellbeing can be improved systematically. You don't have to bear through a difficult transition period."

Family therapy recognizes that relationship difficulties are often maintained by interaction patterns rather than individual faults.

Many families become trapped in cycles where one person's response unintentionally triggers another person's reaction, creating repeated conflicts that leave everyone feeling unheard. Over time, these cycles can erode trust, reduce communication, and increase emotional distance.

By understanding these patterns, families gain the opportunity to replace unhealthy interactions with healthier ways of relating to one another.

Understanding Family Dynamics

When difficulties arise within a family, it is natural to look for a single cause or individual to blame. In reality, families operate as interconnected systems where each person’s experiences, behaviours, and emotions influence everyone else.

A child struggling at school may be responding to stress within the home. Ongoing conflict between parents may affect children’s emotional wellbeing. Changes such as divorce, relocation, financial pressure, or the arrival of a new family member can shift established family patterns and create tension.

How I Work With Families

During therapy we may explore:

  • Family communication patterns
  • Parenting approaches
  • Conflict resolution strategies
  • Family roles and expectations
  • Emotional needs and attachment
  • Intergenerational influences
  • Stressors affecting family functioning

I help you apply practical systems that improve connection, communication and the home.

My approach to family therapy is rooted in the understanding that every family has its own strengths, challenges, and unique dynamics. Rather than focusing on identifying who is right or wrong, I help family members understand how their interactions influence one another and how small changes in communication can create meaningful improvements throughout the family system.

For families with adolescents, we often focus on balancing increasing independence with parental guidance and support.

For parents struggling with behavioural concerns, we examine not only the behaviour itself but also the emotional and relational factors that may be contributing to it.

My goal is to help families develop healthier communication, strengthen emotional connection, and create an environment where each family member feels heard, respected, and supported.

Let's Talk About it

In-person Sessions

I take face-to-face sessions during regular working hours. In emergent cases, I advise you give my office a call, rather than go through the system. We do our best to accommodate your availability.

Online Sessions

Regardless of where you are in the world, or even if you are close by and could spare the commute, I can meet with you, virtually. Don't let travel plans stop you from prioritising your mental health.

Group Sessions

Coming in as a family - whether it's mother and child, father and child or both parents and the child, can seem daunting, but my space is tailored to put you and your family at ease.
